Considering you start in Cantha as Assassin, you are in the fastest leveling starting continent already.

What I always do to get new chars to 20 is (I assume you have Eye of the North expansion):

- Do all/most secondary profession quests in Shing Jea Monastery for lots of easy, fast XP;
- Proceed to quest/follow the mission storyline until you hit the mainland. By that time you should be Level 10 already (Lv 10 needed to go to EoTN);
- Run yourself with henchies from Marketplace to Kaineng Center - no need to fight any mobs;
- Take the quest to go to Eye of the North; run yourself to Gunnar's Hold and level yourself up to 20 doing Kilroy's Boxing. Use XP scrolls for even fastest leveling.

Good luck.

Edit: if you don't have Eye of the North, simply do all secondary profession quests in Shing Jea and play through the campaign normally. You'll easily reach Level 20 by around the time you reach Vizunah Square / ascension mission.

Well, ive leveled 5 characters to lvl 20 survivor(1) and i averaged 4 hours from creation per player. If you cant think of a faster way, i can tell you how i do it.

My fastest time to reach lvl 20 was 3 hours and 35 minutes from creation.

And all these characters hit the first rank of survivor too.

What daze said, and my method should also works for survivor chars. Biggest risks are Zen Daijun mission (Spirit Rift boss, afflicteds' death explosions), running from the Destroyers in the to EoTN quest (disconnect = death), and finally a disconnect during Kilroy's.

Another small note, while under Level 20, remember to use the /bonus command to get the Fire Imp to help you out. Free damage until you hit 20.

Factions is by far the quickest levelling area.
I got to mainland, did a the Kaineng quests and some Explorable Area ones to level.
They are so easy at any level, just by flagging hench.
Once you are a higher level, just drop by Shing Jea Island and do the quests there.
With huge experience awards, you should easily get to level 20.
With EOTN, I suggest Windf0rces method, as it ensures Survivor title.

I have yet to try my method using the fire imp but i imagine that it would make the process faster. Since im almost off work ill hurry up and post my method anyways.
Quests needed to be open - Welcome to cantha, chasing zenmai
Items needed - lightbringer scrolls, unlocked MM skills, gold to pay taxi...
Helpful Items - Max armor, runes, elite tomes, Fire imp

Step 1: Create character in nightfall (because it is the fastest route to the other campaigns)
Step 2: Get ferry to consulate docks (for Max armor and taxis to LA and KC)
Step 3: Have friend help or find runner for olias quest (make olias MM)
Step 4: Taxi to KC (pick up Welcome to Cantha and Chasing Zenmai)
Step 5: Go outside KC to Bukdek byway (bring only Olias with MM build and monk spells to keep minions healed)
>>>>>>Stand near Mhenlo until he stops talking and starts following you
>>>>>>Go to where Zenmai spawns (kill the popups) talk to zenmai she will follow you
>>>>>>backtrack a bit then go to the middle to where Emi is and wait till she follows.
Step 6: Kill enemies in a path that takes out the bulk of them in 10 minutes(LB scroll takes 10 minutes)

You will have a team of 8 but the exp will be split between only you and olias (team of 9 if you count your fire imp)

[hint] let your allies block for you and let them hold aggro, depending on what profession you play you may want to just support them or olias.

---------------
Each run takes about 15 minutes upon entering Bukdek byway (including picking up allies)
At first you will gain 3 to 4 levels per run (about 800 exp per enemy)

When you hit level 12, kick olias because you wont need the protection anymore.

But my fastest time is 3 and a half hours from creation.. Im curious to see what the time is for other peoples methods too. Please post your times.

I think it is possible to leave the tutorial area of Factions with level 17~18.

Create NF char,
get taxi to docks,
get taxi to LA,
In LA, take hench & run down to D'Alesso Seaboard (Careful if you want survivor.).
Look for an empty D'Alesso dist (Korea, Polish etc.)
When you zone in go stand close to the gate where the monsters come to. As they get killed you gain XP. After first grp is dead zone to the next empty dist (the next grps won't give you any XP).
You'll be lvl 10 in no time.
Then, do mission to EOTN and, once inside, get a runner to Gunners Hold.
Do Dwarven Boxing with LB scrolls until lvl20.
Will time my next char ^^ but should be less than 1 hour, depending on how long it takes to find runners.

well, they have pretty much hit it on the head. i would just suggest using berserker scrolls for dwarven boxing as they are a fraction of the price of LB scrolls and can be kept up the entire run if you are fast. Also i have lost a few survivors by getting lag spikes in dwarven boxing...so after you reach 20 its safer to hfff

Except i normally just go out without anyone else in my party, and i bring Lightbringer scrolls. I think my fastest time is 2 hours and 30 minutes though, getting survivor in the process. I lost the Screen shot when i reformatted my computer though.

I think ill try the run again a different way to see if i can maximize my speed. Im going to kill my paragon and create a new paragon, Ill use the fire imp and when i hit lvl 10 i might jump to EotN and box the rest of the way. Ill post screenshots to illustrate, it will be within the next couple days.
